For nine consecutive years, from 2002 to 2010, the City of Isle of Palms received the designation of a Blue Wave Beach by the Clean Beaches Council, the first in South Carolina.

The island's average temperature from November to March is 57 degrees. The summer season from April to October averages 74 degrees. The average ocean temperature from May to September is 81 degrees. Visit the IOP Weather website for more weather information.

From North or South, take I-95 to I-26 toward Charleston. Exit onto I-526 toward Mount Pleasant, follow I-526 to the Georgetown exit, after exiting turn left at light and continue about one mile on your right to SC-517. Turn right on 517 and continue straight over the IOP Connector Bridge to the island.

By Air
Delta, US Airways, United, Northwest, American and Continental service the Charleston International Airport. Car rental agencies include Avis, Budget, Hertz, and National. You can reach the airport at 803-767-1100.
