Business Licenses

In order to obtain a City of Isle of Palms Business License, certain requirements will have to be met.

• Residential Home Builder- Must present state card.
• General Contractor Non-Residential (commercial)-state card.
• Electrical, Plumbing & Mechanical- Must present either a state license or a Charleston County license. In order to obtain a license from the city, the contractor must have a tested license.

Painters, carpenters, floor installers,concrete,and all other contractors must be registered with the state and provide a copy of the card issued by the state. According to state law anyone contracting to do $200 or more of work must be registered with the state. Applications for registration are available in this office.

License fees for an out-of-city contractor are: $165.00 for the first $2000.00 of gross receipts and a charge of $3.48 per $1000.00 based on the contract.

License fees for a contractor whose business office is located on the island are: $110.00 for the first $2000.00 of gross receipts, and a charge of $2.35 per $1000.00 based on the contract.
