Garbage/Trash Schedule

September 8, 2014 - June 1, 2015 - Collection Occurs Once Per Week

Holiday Collection Schedule:
Monday, September 1, 2014 - City Offices and Public Works CLOSED.
                                               No garbage collection.
Tuesday, July 1, 2014 - Breach Inlet through 30th Avenue.
Wednesday, July 2, 2014 - 30th Avenue through Wild Dunes.
Thursday, July 3, 2014 - Yard Debris and Miscellaneous Collection.
Friday, July 4, 2014 - Yard Debris and Miscellaneous Collection.

Once Per Week Collection Schedule:
Monday: Breach Inlet through 30th Avenue
Tuesday: 30th Avenue through Wild Dunes
Wednesday: Yard Debris and Miscellaneous
Thursday: Yard Debris and Miscellaneous
Friday: Yard Debris and Miscellaneous

Twice Per Week Collection Schedule:
Monday:          Breach Inlet through 30th Avenue
Tuesday:         30th Avenue through Wild Dunes
Wednesday:    Yard Debris and Miscellanous
Thursday:        Breach Inlet through 30th Avenue
Friday:            30th Avenue through Wild Dunes

Garbage is Not Collected on the following City Holidays:
New Year's Day
Martin Luther King, Jr. Day
Memorial Day
Independance Day
Labor Day
Thanksgiving Day
Friday after Thanksgiving
Christmas Day
Please check the website for adjustments of collection schedules during holiday weeks. 

Acceptable Yard Debris:
ALL YARD DEBRIS MUST BE IN PAPER BAGS OR CONTAINERS. PLASTIC BAGS CANNOT BE ACCEPTED.

Routine Landscaping Material
Leaves
Grass Clippings
Logs, Limbs, Brush not more than 4 feet in length and 4 inches in diameter.
Please place yard debris in a biodegradable bag for composting. Please do not mix garbage with yard debris. Please do not obstruct water meters, stormwater collection boxes, sewer manhole covers or fire hydrants.

Acceptable Miscellaenous:
Routine Building Materials
Furniture
Refridgerators
Washing Machines
Dryers
Dishwashers
Bed Mattresses

Unacceptable Items and What To Do With Them:
Building Materials Generated by a Contractor
Roofing Shingles
Hazardous Waste
Tires
Batteries
Motor Oil
Petroleum Products
Auto Parts
Landscaping Debris Generated from Clearing a Lot

The City of Isle of Palms hosts an annual Household Hazardous Materials Collection event at which some unacceptable items may be recycled.  This event usually takes place in the spring.  Check the City's calendar.  At other times of the year, please contact Charleston County for instructions on disposal of unacceptable items.
