Camp Summershine

Camp Summershine offers a variety of fun and interactive opportunities including arts and crafts, indoor and outdoor activities, beach trips, and field trips. Children need to bring lunch; snacks are provided.

Registration Dates & Information

IOP Resident: April 3 - April 28
Non-Resident: April 10 - April 28

  • Recreation Center opens and registration will start at 7:00am.
  • Complete Camp Form to help expedite the registration process.
  • Must provide birth certificate to verify participants age.
  • New to the Island? Must bring proof of residency.

Facts You Should Know About Camp

  • Camp begins at 9:00am SHARP!
  • Parents must sign campers in & out daily.
  • Permission forms must be completed weekly if someone other than a parent is picking up campers.
  • Remaining Balance for each week is DUE the Monday of that week.
  • Camp Summershine provides supervision from 8:30am to 3:30pm.
  • There is a $10.00 late fee each day your child is not picked up on time.
  • Registration Deposits are Non-Refundable and Non-Transferable.
  • Children should not bring toys to camp.
  • Disruptive behavior will not be tolerated.
  • Camp Calendar will include information for items that you send with your child to camp. If in doubt, send your child to camp wearing a bathing suit, sunscreen and with a towel.
  • Apply Sunscreen to your child EVERY MORNING!!!
  • Camp Counselors will only be allowed to apply Sunscreen that you supply.
  • Campers are required to wear their Camp Summershine T-Shirt.   It is important that your child is easy to recognize.
  • Please send your child to camp with a bag lunch everyday, unless it is a field trip day.
  • Campers are given one snack during the day. Refreshments and water are available throughout the day.
  • Counselors will handle all lunch money for field trips and will collect at the beginning of camp.
  • Please make Recreation Staff aware of any allergies or special needs your child has when you register.

Wee Camp gives participants a chance to socialize and interact with others while enjoying opportunities such as arts and crafts, games, outdoor activities and wet and wild days. Children need to bring lunch; snacks are provided.

Suarez Soccer School's Summer Camp (5-13 yrs)

This week-long soccer camp is designed for boys and girls of all skill levels and abilities to develop and expand on the FUNdamentals of soccer in a safe learning environment.  Daily curriculum taught by qualified professionals, includes a progressive series of skill-building exercises and small-sided games.

All campers will receive a FREE camp t-shirt.  Full day campers will need to provide lunch.  Camp will be held daily, rain or shine.  In the event of rain, campers will participate in futsal inside the gym.  Campers need to bring a water bottle, shin guards, soccer cleats and indoor shoes (or flat-soled athletic shoes).

Youth Rising Stars Basketball Camp (5-9 yrs)

Camp is based around the Super Six Self Improvement Stations. Camp will be supervised by certified coaches and college players. Campers will receive a camp t shirt and basketball. Full day campers will need to provide lunch. FRIDAY June 16th is HALF DAY for ALL participants, pick up at NOON.

Volleyball Camp

Girls Volleyball Camp (10-15 Yrs)

Camp is designed to develop the fundamental skills of volleyball. Girls will receive a camp t - shirt. Space is limited to 50 participants. Minimum of 25 participants.

Get Your Spike On (10-16 yrs)

Gear up for the indoor volleyball season with this four day clinic that will surely improve your volleyball skills. Drills, scrimmages, intense workouts and a lot of fun playing the sport we love.

Lacrosse Camp

Boys aged 7-18 will learn passing, catching and shooting techniques. All campers receive a reversible pinny. Campers need to bring a stick, gloves, helmet, shoulder and elbow pads.

I am an Artist Camp

Spring Palette (5-11yrs)

With a brush and a dab we will be creating a Robin's nest, whimsical bird, mixed media flowers and a wood wall art lady bug. Children will bring home a canvas or wood craft each day. Emphasis will be on having FUN!

Spring Break Camp:

Charleston Palette  (5-11 yrs)

Join us as we explore the beauty that surrounds us in the Lowcountry. We will explore the Marsh Lands, Beaches, Avenue of Oaks and Charleston Architecture. Children will complete 4 paintings on canvas panels and a decorative wood surf board.

Acting Workshop/Camp

Treasure Island (7-12yrs)

Ahoy, mateys! Hoist your sails and sign up for this delightfully funny rendition of Robert Louis Stevenson's novel where participants will be cast in principal roles and perform in a free show at the end of the week. Will build on the fundamentals of acting with theatre games that use body movement and improvisation to help students become more knowledgeable about themselves, build teamwork and relate to others. A fun time to be had by all! Aaargh! Class performance to be held Friday, August 11 at 11:30am.  Minimum 8   Maximum 15

Tennis Camp

Intermediate/Advanced Tennis Camp

Players will work on improving their overall game with an emphasis on serving, match play and ball control. Please ensure students have a large water bottle, sunscreen and hand towel.  Racquet Required. Intermediate/Advanced players only.
