Standing Committees

  • City Council approved the purchase of a new Records Management System, and a new four wheel drive pickup truck for the Police Department.
  • City Council also approved the award of a contract in the amount of $4,304,008 to Salmon's Dredging for the marina dock rehabilitation project and the marina bulkhead re-coating.  The rehabilitation project involves the replacement of the aging floating docks with IPE wood which is long lasting and perfect for construction in marine environments.
  • City Council approved consideration of restricting parking on the Landside of Palm Boulevard to address public safety concerns and reduce the amount of time it takes for emergency vehicles to get down Palm Boulevard when responding to a call for service as well as reducing the possibility of collisions between pedestrians and vehicles.

Ordinances

Second Reading

  • City Council approved second reading of Ordinance 2020-09 which authorizes the City to issue a general obligation (GO) in an amount not to exceed $8,000,000 to fund the construction of the Marina Dock and Bulkhead Rehabilitation Project and Phase III Drainage project which includes improvements to the 30th, 36th and 41st Avenue drainage outfalls. 
  • City Council also approved extending the City's state of emergency and temporary emergency measures due to COVID-19. The amended Emergency Ordinance includes the following emergency measures which are extended for 60 days after the current emergency ordinance expires on October 13, 2020: 
    • Face coverings are required while indoors in food service and retail establishments.
    • Parking is prohibited on the land side of Palm Boulevard between 21st and 40th Avenue. Parking is also prohibited on the South (closest to Breach Inlet) side of 3rd through 9th Avenues, and parking on Hartnett Boulevard, between 27th and 29th Avenues, remains limited to recreational department use only.
    • All Short-Term Rentals on the island will be subject to the Safety Standards and Guidelines provided by the City's task force.
    • All metered parking will be enforced from 8:00 a.m. through 6:00 p.m. until December 12, 2020.
    • Live entertainment is now allowed until 11:00 P. M. bringing the Isle of Palms Ordinance in line with the Governor's Executive Order ceasing the service of alcohol after 11:00 P. M.

Resolutions

  • City Council approved a reimbursement resolution in conjunction with the bond approved in Ordinance 2020-09 which allows the City to reimburse itself from the proceeds of the bonds in order to more efficiently complete the projects funded by the bonds.
