Garbage Collection

Garbage carts and recycling containers may only be placed curbside after 5:00 p.m. the night before pick up and must be removed from sight by 9:00 a.m. the day after pick up.

June 3, 2024 – August 30, 2024

Garbage is Not Collected on the following City Holidays

If any of the following holidays fall on a regular scheduled collection day the collection will be delayed by one day.

Acceptable Yard Debris

All yard debris must be in paper bags or containers. Plastic bags cannot be accepted.

  • Routine Landscaping Material
  • Leaves
  • Grass Clippings
  • Logs, Limbs, Brush not more than 4 feet in length and 4 inches in diameter.
  • Please place yard debris in a biodegradable bag for composting. Please do not mix garbage with yard debris. Please do not obstruct water meters, stormwater collection boxes, sewer manhole covers or fire hydrants.

How to Dispose of Unacceptable Items

The City of Isle of Palms hosts an annual Household Hazardous Materials Collection event at which some unacceptable items may be recycled. This event usually takes place in the spring. Check the City's calendar. At other times of the year, please contact Charleston County for instructions on disposal of unacceptable items.
