Ordinances

City Council approved Second Reading and ratified the following ordinances:

  • Ordinance 2019-07 – Lot Subdivision
    • Doubles the minimum lot size for subdivision to 35,000 square feet for lots in SR-1 and 16,000 square feet for lots in SR-2. The exception for the minimum yard requirements would apply to lots smaller than 17,500 square feet in SR-1 and 8,000 square feet in SR-2, rather than applying to every non-conforming lot.
  • Ordinance 2019-09 – Golf Carts on the Beach
    • This ordinance makes the City Code consistent with the State Law which allows the use of golf carts on the beach by handicap persons. State law requires a DMV issued permit for the use of a golf cart and proof of a handicap placard for special exceptions, such as golf cart access to the beach.

City Council approved First Reading of the following ordinances:

  • Ordinance 2019-11 – Lot Coverage
    • Reduces the maximum lot area that may be covered with impervious surfaces to 35%. The ordinance would also require all hard landscaping, including walkways, driveways, pool surrounds, and ground level patios, to be constructed using pervious materials. Repairs or replacements of impervious surface must be completed within 6 months of removal and if not, the surface would be subject to the current regulations.
  • Ordinance 2019-12 – Film Permit
    • Establishes a permitting process and fee for requests for commercial photographs, film and video on the beach.
  • Ordinance 2019-13 – Prohibition of single-use plastic bags, plastic straws, polystyrene coolers, food containers, cups and balloons on the beach
    • For these offenses, the Police Department may issue a verbal warning, but may issue a penalty of $100
