Standing Committees
- City Council approved the award of a contract to South East Sports & Play in the amount of $62,000 to replace the Recreation Center's gymnasium floor with a maple-looking shock floor. The Recreation gym will be closed while the contractor performs this work and it is expected that it may take at least a couple of weeks to complete. The City's goal is for this project to be completed by the end of this year.
- City Council approved two (2) change orders from IPW Construction Group in the amount of $51,450 and $69,739.50 for the Phase II Drainage project. The first change order is for additional surveying and location work to identify where the new drainage pipes would come into conflict with existing utility lines that are already in place so that the drainage pipes could be installed below them. The second change order is for the labor involved in the vertical depth adjustments required for the drainage installations along and/or underneath Palm between 46th and 52nd Avenue.
- City Council unanimously approved the updated Employee Handbook. Some of the updates include the addition of a workplace violence statement in which the City sets a standard of zero tolerance of workplace violence, bullying and harassment by employees and citizens. The handbook also includes a bereavement policy which states that City will pay up to five (5) calendar days in the event of the death of an immediate family member. Also, it includes a pregnancy accommodations statement that City adheres to the federal and state Pregnancy Discrimination Acts, the Affordable Care Act and Family Medical Leave Act policies against discrimination of medical need arising from pregnancy and childbirth.
