The Isle of Palms Police Department is committed to the investigation of all criminal activity. The Criminal Investigations Division (CID) is responsible for the advanced investigation of crimes against persons, property crimes and white-collar crimes. The division also conducts narcotic and vice investigations, serves warrants, provides crime scene processing, maintains evidence and criminal intelligence, and provides direct victim services through the Victim Advocate.
The Criminal Investigations Division consists of two investigators: one Sergeant and one Victim Advocate. Both investigators are available for call-out, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The investigators collaborate and coordinate efforts with local and state law enforcement agencies such as the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED), the South Carolina Department of Probation, Parole and Pardon Services (SCDPPPS), the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control (SCDHEC) and the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources (SCDNR); federal law enforcement agencies such as te Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI), the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF); and private sector foundations such as Missing and Exploited Children.
The evidence processing facilities in the City of Isle of Palms Public Safety Building, completed in 2009, include a ventilation hood allowing for chemical testing of processing of substances in evidence, evidence storage and refridgerated evidence storage, and an evidence garage for processing and evidence collection on vehicles and large items taken into custody.
The Criminal Investigations Division is dedicated to the successful investigation, resolution and prosecution of crimes against persons and property.
