Special Presentation

The Wild Dunes Resort presented to City Council their plans for the new hotel development in Wild Dunes. The new hotel will include 150 rooms, function space, a restaurant and a spa. Construction is expected to begin this summer and be completed by the fall of 2020. To mitigate the impact construction will have on traffic, the resort has moved their administrative staff off island, and has arranged a parking agreement with the Citadel Beach House to accommodate employee and construction crew parking on their site.

Standing Committees

  • City Council approved the 2018 Farmers' Market which will be held at the IOP County Park every Thursday, between 3:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. during September and October. Citizens attending the Farmers' Market will be able to park in the IOP County Park for free.
  • City Council adopted a Coyote Management Plan. The purpose of this plan is to educate citizens about how to be coyote smart and provide staff a management strategy and guidelines to address the City's coyote population. The plan is available here.
  • City Council appointed Assistant City Administrator, Desirée Fragoso, as the Interim City Administrator as of June 1, 2018 and appointed City Administrator, Linda Tucker, as City Administrator Emerita commencing June 1, 2018 through October 8, 2018.

Ordinances & Resolutions

oRDINANCE 2018.06 – Adopt a budget for fiscal year 2019

City Council unanimously approved the adoption of a budget for fiscal year beginning July 1, 2018, and ending June 30, 2019. The approved FY 19 budget does not include a tax increase. The FY 19 budget includes funds to support initiatives that address the top priorities identified by the residents at the two Citizen Input sessions held earlier this year. Some of these initiatives are related to parking, drainage, sewer, coyote management and the Isle of Palms Marina. oRDINANCE 2018.07 – parking in loading zones

City Council approved additional regulations related to parking in loading zones and to increase the fine for this violation from $50 to $100. The ordinance also authorizes the Police Department to impound or immobilize vehicles found to be a nuisance.

oRDINANCE 2018.08 – dOCK SPACE FOR Morgan creek grill

City Council authorized an amendment to the restaurant lease to include 7 boat slips for exclusive use by restaurant patrons.
