IOP Public Dock
The Isle of Palms Public Dock is located at the Isle of Palms Marina at 50 41st Avenue. The public dock is open every day from sunrise to sunset.
- Launch a kayak, canoe or paddle board
- Read a book
- Watch the sunset
- Spot dolphins
- Enjoy time with your family and friends!
For your safety and to ensure everyone enjoys this space, please DON’T:
- Have your pet unleashed and leave your pet waste
- Consume alcoholic beverages
Mooring of motorized vessels or watercraft is prohibited.
IOP Explorer Series for Residents
In partnership with Coastal Expeditions, we have developed a series of six itineraries exclusively for Isle of Palms residents. Learn more about the place you call home and how to enjoyably explore it on your own! The outings will depart from the new IOP Public Dock at the Marina.
Reservations are on a first-come, first-served. Each outing is limited to 15 participants.
The outings will be free for Isle of Palms residents. Residents will be expected to show proof of residency or proof of ownership upon arrival.
Friday, May 20 | 9 -11 a.m.
INTRODUCTION TO SEA KAYAKING
Learn to safely explore the saltmarsh by kayak! This 2-hour class combines an ecotour with basic kayak skills development.
Sunday, May 29 | 6-8 a.m.
COASTAL BIRD STEWARD DAY & KAYAKING
Paddle into the saltmarsh with Coastal Expeditions to learn about bird stewardship and the unique ecology of this area.
Wednesday, June 8 | 3:30-5:30 p.m.
SEA TURTLE LESSON & KAYAKING
A Coastal Expeditions naturalist will talk about the local sea turtle population that inhabits the area and explain how to protect these summer visitors.

CREEK SWEEP & CITIZEN SCIENCE SERVICE DAY
Isle of Palms is a beautiful place and it’s our responsibility to keep it that way! Residents will be guided through the creeks on kayaks searching for litter, while also being on the lookout for exciting wildlife encounters.

SUNRISE STAND UP PADDLEBOARDING
Learn to Stand Up Paddleboard (SUP) while watching the sunrise over the saltmarsh looking for wildlife. A special way to start the day, it’s an exhilarating experience to combine new adventures with fitness.

SUNSET CITIZEN SCIENCE DAY
Watch the sunset over Morgan Creek as we search for dolphins and birds and learn how to report them on various citizen science apps!
Parking is available at the marina site. The City offers 16 resident only parking spaces located next to the public dock. Golf cart parking is also available on 41st Avenue just before the entrance to the marina. Residents with properly credentialed vehicles can park in the designated resident only parking spaces free of charge. A properly credentialed vehicle is one that has a City issued Resident Parking Permit or a Wild Dunes Resident decal.
