Garbage Collection

 

Yard Debris and Miscellaneous Collection Will NOT Occur on July 3rd, 2020 as the City will be observing Independence Day. Instead the Thursday and Friday collection schedules will occur on Wednesday and Thursday the 1st and the 2nd of July respectively.
Collection Occurs Twice Per Week: June 1, 2020 – September 4, 2020 (September 4th end date subject to change)
Collection Occurs Once Per Week: September 5, 2020 – May 31, 2021

Tuesday: 30th Avenue through Wild Dunes
Wednesday: Yard Debris and Miscellaneous
Thursday: Yard Debris and Miscellaneous

Twice Per Week Collection Schedule

Monday: Breach Inlet through 30th Avenue

Garbage is Not Collected on the following City Holidays

If any of the following holidays fall on a regular scheduled collection day the collection will be delayed by one day.

  • Memorial Day
  • Independence Day
  • Labor Day
  • Veteran's Day
  • Thanksgiving Day
  • Friday after Thanksgiving
  • Christmas Eve

Collected Materials

Acceptable Yard Debris

All yard debris must be in paper bags or containers. Plastic bags cannot be accepted.

  • Routine Landscaping Material
  • Leaves
  • Grass Clippings
  • Logs, Limbs, Brush not more than 4 feet in length and 4 inches in diameter.
  • Please place yard debris in a biodegradable bag for composting. Please do not mix garbage with yard debris. Please do not obstruct water meters, stormwater collection boxes, sewer manhole covers or fire hydrants.

  • Building Materials Generated by a Contractor

  • Landscaping Debris Generated from Clearing a Lot
  • Slag or Gravel
  • Concrete/Cement

How to Dispose of Unacceptable Items

The City of Isle of Palms hosts an annual Household Hazardous Materials Collection event at which some unacceptable items may be recycled. This event usually takes place in the spring. Check the City's calendar. At other times of the year, please contact Charleston County for instructions on disposal of unacceptable items.
