Beach Sanitation

beach garbage cans

Keeping Isle of Palms’ beaches clean, safe, and enjoyable for residents and visitors is a top priority of the City’s Public Works Department. To support this effort, the City is working to contract beach sanitation services to ensure garbage is collected efficiently and consistently throughout the island’s beach access network.

The selected contractor will be responsible for servicing approximately 65 waste containers located along 56 beach access paths. These containers range from 65- to 96-gallon garbage cans and play a vital role in helping maintain a clean shoreline and protecting our natural environment.

Leave Only Footprints

Help keep the island beautiful and thriving by remembering to leave only footprints. Everything you bring to the beach—chairs, toys, food, and trash—should leave with you. Pack in, pack out to protect our shoreline, wildlife, and the experience for everyone who visits.
