New Islandwide Speed Limit 25mph in all Secondary Roads

In an effort to increase safety in residential areas, the City has requested the South Carolina Department of Transportation to reduce the speed limit to 25 mph on all secondary roads located within the City of Isle of Palms, with the exception of Palm Boulevard, which is posted at 30 mph, and other roadways properly marked for a lower speed limit.

SCDOT implemented this change on April 11, 2022.

The City asks motorists to be aware of the new posted speed limits as they enter the island. The Isle of Palms Police Department will be actively enforcing the new speed limits as part of the City's Strategic Goal to increase road and pedestrian safety on the island.
