1/14/2025 - U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) contractor, Cottrell, will begin placing sand on the Isle of Palms within the next 2 weeks.
The USACE has been dredging multiple shoals around the Island, from Dewees to Breech Inlet, and disposing of the sand in an open water placement area. One of those shoals near Breach Inlet is the source of the sand designated for beach placement on the Isle of Palms.
Beach placement is projected to continue through March 2026, coinciding with the ongoing USACE project managed by Ahtna.
