12/8/2025- The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) has contracted Ahtna to manage the 'Sediment Rehandling at Breach Inlet' project. Ahtna will be taking sand from four placement areas along the intercoastal waterway, and placing it along the Isle of Palms Beach from the Sea Cabin Villas area south to Breach Inlet. This will restore needed capacity for future dredging projects.
As of this week, dredging and pumping continue slow and steady with 220kCY of sand remaining to be placed onto the Isle of Palms. Ahtna is exploring the possibility of moving to a 24/7 schedule over the next two weeks.
