02/27/2026 - Ahtna has finished placing material as part of the US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) beneficial use project on the Isle of Palms beach. The city and the SC Department of Environmental Services (DES) are aware of some undesirable material that was placed on the beach and concentrated in pockets around 2nd to 4th Ave. The Bureau of Coastal Management is working with the USACE on remediation plans and the city staff will remain plugged in to these conversations as well.
