01/23/2026 - Ahtna continues to make progress, with production rates improved compared to earlier phases of the project. Fewer than 200,000 cubic yards of sand remain to be placed, and they are dredging from their final designated borrow area.
To accommodate the upcoming Cottrell beach restoration project who will be operating in the vicinity, Ahtna is shifting its operations to an area south of 6th Avenue, allowing both projects to proceed efficiently.
Ahtna is operating 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and is expected to remain working on the beach after Cottrell completes its work.
